I completely agree with you that marking the jpeg2000 decoder might have been premature! (But beware: You have just found another dangerous minefield!) My patch in this thread is about the jpeg 2000 encoder that needs a lot of memory but produces - to the best of my knowledge - valid lossy and lossless files .
