As far as I know, 10bit bitdepth is not specified in the MV profile for

Thanks for the reply. You are right that the initial versions of the
standard did not specify a 10bit version of the MV profile. However, in
July 2023, a proposal for the "Multiview Main 10" profile was made, and
currently there are many encoded HDR videos in this profile being streamed
to Apple Vision Pro. The HTM reference SW
<https://vcgit.hhi.fraunhofer.de/jvet/HTM> already has the support (search
for "JVET_AE0295"). The Dolby FAQ site
<https://professionalsupport.dolby.com/s/article/Dolby-Vision-Profile-20-FAQ>
also mentions this profile. Then there were other profiles ("Multiview
Extended" and "Multiview Extended 10") proposed, and since "Multiview
Extended 10" can be a superset of "Multiview Main 10", the latest standard
(July 2024) <https://www.itu.int/itu-t/recommendations/rec.aspx?rec=H.265>,
ended up only including the "Extended" profiles. For the "Extended"
profiles, you can search for "JVET_AH0046" in the ref SW. Given that there
are already many encoded videos with the "Multiview Main 10" profile, Apple
has submitted a proposal (JVET-AJ0213 in Oct 2024) to bring back the
profile into the standard.

Does decoding such samples not work as is? Profiles afaik only define constrains, not extra decoding steps. The existing code should be able to handle 10bit streams for both base and second layers.
