this from your swscale4 branch breaks:

./ffmpeg -i brender/brender_pix/5-0-TESTMAP.PIX   -vframes 1 -bitexact  -y 
test.tga
(text in the image becomes garbled like slices mixed)

i will mail you the file as i cant find it online and dont know
where its from
