I was under the impression that a lot of messages 
are currently output by the libraries and that you 
are against seeing one more with warning level.
But I am apparently wrong?

The problem with reverting the patch is that a 
user simply has no chance to understand why he 
must not provide the "right" and documented 
option to libavcodec in the utf-16 case as 
explained in the ticket.
Do you see another solution for this problem?
