The logfile the jail uses is a symbolic link. It is refreshed every night at midnight. The target log file is re-created every night shortly after midnight by the app using the current date as the filename. The script that re-linked to the new file did not verify that a new log file was actually available for linking. Sometimes the link failed to create because a new log file had been made yet.
