Bidding closes on Thursday 6th August at 16.30 GMT.

We have the following two lots on offer:

--------------------------------------

Lot 475
#27612 Herman Charles Bosman (Ed. Lionel Abrahams).
THE COLLECTED WORKS OF HERMAN CHARLES BOSMAN
2 volumes in slipcase.
Jonathan Ball, Bergvlei, 1983 2nd impression of 1st edition

This is the definitive "Collected Works" although several other items
have been newly published since. "It is fair to say that all the
stories, essays, chronicles, sketches, poems and novels that have made
him South Africa's best loved writer are included ...".

Lot 489 #27613 George Milwa Pemba. MRS GRACE MSIMANG.
Pen and ink sketch on paper of Mrs Grace Msimang. Signed M. Pemba
December 1981.

Grace Msimang was the eldest of three daughters of Isaiah Bud Mbelle, a
former secretary of the SA Native National Congress (SANNC) and a
prominent court interpreter in Kimberley and later in Pretoria. Grace's
husband, Richard Msimang, was one of the first black lawyers in
Johannesburg in the early 1900s and a founder member of the SANNC
(later the ANC). Grace was a niece of Sol Plaatje and the sister-in-law
of journalist and politician H. Selby Msimang. She was born and grew up
in Kimberley and later lived in Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Excellent provenance. The present owner was a friend of George Pemba.
Feel free to contact us regarding the condition of this item which is
generally excellent but does have minor paper blemishes not immediately
apparent.

--------------------------------------

Any additional information, images, assistance, as required in
connection with the above items and the bidding process can be
provided on request - including p&p estimates for overseas clients.

You need to register to take part in the auction and
antiquarianauctions.com will be pleased to assist you with the bidding
process - which is actually simplicity in itself. If you can log in,
you can bid. Registration is easy and the site does not ask for too
many personal details.

IMPORTANT: The items are on the auction and no pre-auction offers will
be considered. Items will, if unsold, revert to our previous listed
price and no post-auction offers will be considered. If you wish to
purchase an item at auction-level prices, please bid for it.

Note: The auction allows 'proxy bids' whereby it judiciously spends up
to your maximum bid to stay just ahead of the other bidders - only as
long as they do not have a proxy bid in excess of yours. If you are the
only bidder then it will not exceed the reserve price until another
bidder enters a higher bid. Speak to us if you are unsure on how to use
this feature.

Note: 'Buyers Premium' is charged on this auction, which means that the
purchaser is paying the hammer price clear of the surcharge levied by
most other auction houses. Buyers Premium adversely affects the prices
bid to the detriment of the seller.

Reminder: Bidding closes: Thursday 6th August 2020 16.30 GMT (6.30 pm
local SA time). Successful bidding!

We are available to list and auction collections of suitable material
