Hello,

We have 3 items on this auction. One very desirable art item, and 2
hard-to-find Boer War titles.

Details of the auction are to be found at:

http://www.antiquarianauctions.com

Visit this site for fuller descriptions and images. You need to
register to take part in the auction and antiquarianauctions.com will
be pleased to assist you with the bidding process - which is actually
simplicity in itself. If you can log in, you can bid. Registration is
easy and the site does not ask for too many personal details.

This is their auction #66. Bidding is now open and closes on Thursday
26th April 2018 16.30 GMT.

This notice is later than we would have liked. Please note that you
have less than 3 days to enter any bid as the auction closes _this_
Thursday.

We have the following lots on offer:

--------------------------------------

Lot 9
#26249 Barbara Lindop. GERARD SEKOTO.
Copy No.16 of 50. The 50 copies were printed for H.F. Oppenheimer for
his own distribution.
Dictum. Randburg 1988
An extensive collection of the artist's work from around 1938 to the
1980s. This important South African artist, now deceased, lived in exile
in France for more than 40 years. 21pp autobiographical outline
contributed by the painter.

Bound by Peter Carstens in half maroon calf with four raised bands over
marbled paper boards, gilt title label on spine, strong buckram
slipcase with marbled paper finish to top, end, & bottom. 294pp
illustrated oblong 4to.

Bookseller's pencil annotations to ffep else a Fine copy in VG+
slipcase (the buckram is showing minor tanning, clean & very sound with
no bumped corners). Overall an exceptional copy.

The last copy of this that I find sold on auction fetched GBP2000 at
Bonhams in London, maybe 10 years back, so the reserve given is half of
that. Considering the low number of copies available and that they were
given as personal gifts by H.F. Oppenheimer, then copies are not often
available.

Lot 127
#24576 John Stuart. PICTURES OF WAR.
Constable. 1901.
A selection of letters contributed to the Morning Post (London). Covers
engagements at Elandslaagte, Tinta Inyoni, Dundee, Ladysmith, &
Mafeking, the last two of which in some detail. An embossed stamp
denotes that this book was a gift from the publisher. An elusive title.

Gilt title on red cloth boards. 413pp illustrated 4 folding maps (2 of
Mafeking & 2 of Ladysmith). 8vo.

No inscription. ownership stamp to title page and embossed stamp as
well. edges & eps well tanned. hinges starting but still sound. one map
torn but without loss. spine fading, spot on front board has lost
colour, main text pretty clean but some few pages foxed, overall a
fairly clean G++ copy.

Lot 128
#24830 Lieut.-Colonel St John Gore. THE GREEN HORSE IN LADYSMITH.
Printed For Private Circulation. Sampson Low Marston, London, 1901.

Author saw service in the 5th Dragoon Guards. This is a 'Record of
Service' including extracts from diaries & reports. Various interesting
appendices including Nominal Roll. Excellent photographs.

Gilt device on red cloth boards. 170pp illustrated plates, folding map
of Ladysmith. 8vo.

No inscription. foxed throughout to varying degrees. spine tanned, some
minor marks to boards but still attractive externally. folding map at
rear excellent with no tears.

Any additional information, images, assistance, as required in
connection with the above items and the bidding process can be
provided on request - including p&p estimates for overseas clients.

IMPORTANT: The items are on the auction and no pre-auction offers will
be considered. Items will, if unsold, revert to our previous listed
price and no post-auction offers will be considered. If you wish to
purchase an item at auction-level prices, please bid for it.

The auction allows 'proxy bids' whereby it judiciously spends up to your
maximum bid to stay just ahead of the other bidders - only as long as
they do not have a proxy bid in excess of yours. If you are the only
bidder then it will not exceed the reserve price until another bidder
enters a higher bid. Speak to us if you are unsure on how to use this.

NO 'Buyers Premium' charged on this auction, which means that the
purchaser is paying the hammer price clear of the surcharge levied by
many other auction houses. Buyers Premium adversely affects the prices
bid to the detriment of the seller.

Bidding closes: Thursday 26th April 16:30 GMT
