No, I can clearly see the error where Linux is trying to load the 366 hpt driver when it detects the controller. I did a lot of reading and everyone mentioned problems with the hpt driver included in the 24 kernel. Alan Cox did a patch and put it out but it hasn't been implemented in the stock kernel.
I can get past the kernel panic by recompiling with the actual highpoint driver from highpoint tech, only problem is it was unable to see the one drive that I hooked up to it. Could be my fault though, the drive wasn't on that controller when I installed and I may need to do something further. It just wasn't worth the effort of pursueing since I only have 4 ide devices hooked up currently and they all fit on the primary ide controller channels. > Since we basically have the same board, it would seem you should be able to > get them working. Again, I'd check the BIOS for the latest. I would the thrilled if it was something easy but after spending 5+ days trying to get it to work, constantly moving drives to different controllers and having to recompile the kernel, I am not sure that there is enough value in getting it to work to justify the time. Obviously, I am not an expert with any of this, just a squirrel trying to get a nut. ;-} -- Bryan Phinney Software Test Engineer
