How can the files be extracted from the tar/gzip file?
tho i do not use apropos, and it has been refreshed to my thinking, and i have seen some improvements to it, try following at cli or in an x terminal;
man apropos man cpio man gzip man tar apropos cpio apropos extract apropos gzip apropos tar
i prefer cpio to tar.
i do not use compression, it is dangerous and could cost all data. if you can not back it to floppy, use tape, cd, dvd. never compress!
peace out.
