Most likely, you're using Kaffe, the JRE that Mandrake installs by default
(you can verify this by typing 'java -version'.) It doesn't support the -X
options (which are non-standard anyhow), or Swing (I think) which most java
applications (as opposed to applets) need these days.
Download and install Java from sun at java.sun.com.
