This is my fstab:

/dev/hdb5 / ext3 defaults 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hdb6 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
/dev/hdb1 /mnt/bootwindows ntfs iocharset=iso8859-15,ro 0 0
/dev/hda /mnt/cdrom auto user,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec 0 0
/dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom2 auto user,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec 0 0
/dev/scd1 /mnt/cdrom3 auto user,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec 0 0
/dev/hde5 /mnt/files ntfs iocharset=iso8859-15,ro 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto user,iocharset=iso8859-15,sync,codepage=850,noauto,exec 0 0
/dev/hdb7 /mnt/windowsLH ntfs iocharset=iso8859-15,ro 0 0
/dev/hde1 /mnt/windowsXP ntfs iocharset=iso8859-15,ro 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hde6 swap swap defaults 0 0

could anyone tell me how to make my NTFS partitions visible to all users (or at least 1 specific user), and writable by at least root.

am guessing changing 'ro' to 'rw' does makes them writable.. but will seek help rather than make errors :)

many thanks

Of all God's creatures there is only one that cannot be made the slave of the lash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with a cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.
