The only bleeding edge cards that are supported are NVIDIA cards If you
use the Nvidia drivers.
There driver works for all current cards.
With ATI you can expect it to be up to 6 months before a New card will
work in linux.
A case in point is the 8500.
Think of how long it has been out and it is only within the last month
or 2 that a linux driver has been made available.
