Thanks for the info. In my case, there are no PCI boards (the nForce has
both builtin sound and LAN) but I suppose the IRQs could still be an issue
since builtin or not they each must still require one. (The manual doesn't
talk about IRQ conflicts involving these devices but...) I've only
occasionally had to turn PnP off in the BIOS before installing Linux and
since I'd been able to install 8.2 without any issues outside of the
Highpoint controller with it still enabled I hadn't considered it a problem.
Perhaps I'll give that a try.
