Hello, I've followed the PopTop how-to for 2.4 kernels to a 't', yet I
cannot establish a connection. Running Mandrake 8.2 with pppd 2.4.1 +
Poptop 1.1.2 behind a Cisco 806 router with ports 1723 and 47 forwarding
to the server.

Here is a log of an attempted connection from Windows 2000 from behind a
Linksys router with PPTP forwarding on (I manually forwarded the ports
too, just to be sure).

Aug 14 21:58:10 serve-on pptpd[21039]: CTRL: Client 24.141.11.74 control
connection started
Aug 14 21:58:10 serve-on pptpd[21039]: CTRL: Starting call (launching
pppd, opening GRE)
Aug 14 21:58:10 serve-on pppd[21040]: pppd 2.4.1 started by root, uid 0
Aug 14 21:58:10 serve-on pppd[21040]: Using interface ppp0
Aug 14 21:58:10 serve-on pppd[21040]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/3
Aug 14 21:58:40 serve-on pppd[21040]: LCP: timeout sending
Config-Requests
Aug 14 21:58:40 serve-on pppd[21040]: Connection terminated.
Aug 14 21:58:40 serve-on pppd[21040]: Exit.
Aug 14 21:58:40 serve-on pptpd[21039]: Error reading from pppd:
Input/output error
Aug 14 21:58:40 serve-on pptpd[21039]: CTRL: GRE read or PTY write
failed (gre,pty)=(6,5)
Aug 14 21:58:40 serve-on pptpd[21039]: CTRL: Client 24.141.11.74 control
connection finished

So it seems that pptpd dies because pppd never connects and times out.
Here is my /etc/ppp/options file:

debug
lock
noauth
usepeerdns
#-chap
#-chapms
#+chapms-v2
#mppe-128
#mppe-stateless

I've had to comment out all the options above because pppd says it
doesn't recognized them .. even though I patched the kernel, compiled
the modules and inserted them as per the instructions.

Any help would be faaaaannnnntastic!
