Okay, i tried asking this one a while back and didn't get any response so i guess i'll
give it another shot.
My CD-ROM was not detected when i installed mandrake so i ended up copying the CD's
onto my windows partition and doing a HD install which worked okay except that at the
beginning of the installation when it says "Finding IDE devices.." (or something like
that.. can't remember) there would be a LONG pause (i thought it locked up on me but
after leaving it to go to supper i found that it actually worked :)
Now i know that there's no problem with the CD-Rom because:
a) It works in windows
b) It worked in Redhat 7.0
(Interestingly enough i remember that it stopped working in Redhat when i upgraded to
a 2.4 kernel)
And before you ask, yes i tried mounting the CD-ROM. The problem is bigger than that.
