I used to get that alot. I think it has something to do with amd/autofs. My solution was to edit /etc/amd.conf--comment out the [ /net ] section and see if that helps. It's not a great solution, but if you don't use /net, then chances are it'll work for you. I'm wondering if it's some sort of conflict between amd and autofs.
