As usual, this one turned out to be caused from a totally different direction than the one I was looking in. (these things tend to hit me up-side the head, then I have to figure out what hit & why!).
Anyway, in my case, the access problem was a DNS issue (sheesh!). So mine is resolved. For a change, it wasn't msec. ;) Thanks for all the pointers!
