I cannot do this, and in any case, I am not even to the point of being able
to setup a gateway to the net. I have a modem connection via a linmodem at
that. Drakgw doesn't see the modem so I cannot use it.

At this point, I am simply trying to get a successful connection via wlan
between my desktop and laptop system. It is now officially making me nuts.

Here is my dhcpd.conf:

server-name "Praedor";
ddns-update-style ad-hoc;

subnet 10.0.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
        range 10.0.0.2 10.0.0.100;
        }
host ravenhome.net {
        hardware ethernet 00:40:36:01:93:E7;
        fixed-address 10.0.0.1;
        }
host Tempus.ravenhome.net {
        hardware ethernet 00:02:2d:3c:26:71;
        fixed-address 10.0.0.5;
        }

Not sure about the host ravenhome.net line...that is to refer to my laptop
which is running the dhcp server. Do I need it? The Tempus.ravenhome
section is for my desktop. It appears to be doing its job as running "ifup
eth0" on the desktop gets recognized on my laptop via the MAC and my laptop
attempts/offers 10.0.0.5 as an address. It is just that the desktop will
not accept it. It is as though it is blind. It is doing a dhcp discover and
not seeing squat but the laptop certainly sees this and tries to oblige.

Thanks, but this didn't change anything. I have now tried altering the entry
in the sysconfig/pcmcia file to PCIC=i82365 but yenta is still loaded
instead. I have also tried a different module, orinoco_cs instead of the
wvlan_cs that was automatically loaded previous. I am down next to trying
the wavelan_cs module in an attempt to root out a possible wrong module
problem (?) Thus far, with orinoco_cs and wvlan_cs, the results are the
same...DHCPdiscover from my desktop to laptop, clearly detected, and a DHCP
offer of 10.0.0.5 to my desktop but not seen nor accepted. I have tried pump
and dhcpcd thus far.

One word: "GAH!"
