Let's see if I've gotten around my message-sending problems... I would blow off everything here and just go with the very simple and reliable "XFree86 -configure" as root from a CLI. It does everything you need to get X up and running again. Once you've run it, simply test the configuration by (as root) running "XFree86 -xf86config /root/XF86Config". Running the "XFree86 -configure" command creates a test XF86Config file in the /root directory. If it pans out, you simply move it to /etc/X11 (overwriting the borked version - or rename the old one to save it). Tada, fixed X.
If you wish to tweak, it is then easy to do with the fancy-pants GUI tools (which wont work if the current XF86Config file is borked anyway). praedor On Wednesday 29 May 2002 12:27 pm, daRcmaTTeR wrote: > On Wed, 29 May 2002, Larry Sword wrote: > > xf86config > > > > Ref: man xf86config > > > > Bruce Endries wrote: > > > This should be an easy one... > > > > > > I can't remember what the console command is to re-configure X.
