I've got an Abit Gef2-400 64mb, Aopen is a higher quality vendor.
Any Gef2 should work flawlessly with XFree86's 4.2 2d driver. For
3d/accel you'll need to get nVidia's closed source binaries. I
recommend gettin the src.rpm's and rebuildin them against your
current runnin kernel if you do. Latest and greatest are,
   NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-2960.src.rpm
   NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-2960.src.rpm

These rpms built successfully against 2.4.18-13k7 (stock Mandrake
config'd kernel I recompiled for athlon) usin '--rebuild --target
athlon' on the nvidia rpms ...when I do use 3d/accel. Normally I run
the XFree drivers. The open source XFree 2d drivers never lockup,
I've had a few lockups usin the nvidia drivers (FlightGear, Open
Universe). IMO&E, if you don't need 3d/accel for games, stay away
from the nvidia drivers.

FWIW, if the Gef2 doesn't come with a fan on it's heatsink, put
one on ;) They run hot
