Hello all,

Hopefully, *someone* can help me out here....

I'm running Mandrake 8.1 with all the current security patches and so on in
place. I've got an Epson Stylus C80 inkjet printer. I'm using KDE as my
desktop.

When I run either KUPS or the control-center and select "Printing Manager"
under the System item in the index tree (left pane), and then select the
"Add printer wizard," it actually detects that I've got an Epson Stylus C80
on Parallel Port #1, /dev/lp0. I pick that particular driver when it's
offered to me. I name the printer "lp". When I do a "lpstat -a", it tells
me that lp is ready. But when I select "test print" from within kups or
control-center, or actually try to print something with the "lp" command,
absolutely nothing happens. At all. I can "lp {some-text-file}" and then
do a lpq command, it tells me that lp is ready and that there are no
entries for it.

I've tried just about everything I can think of, and even though it knows
that the printer is out there and can identify it, it doesn't seem too
interested in actually *sending* anything to it, and in fact doesn't seem
to realize that nothing printed because the print spool is clear.

Anyone have any ideas?
