A similar problem, on my 8.1 machine, any iptabless log message gets echo'd to whatever console (not an x console!) I am using (do not even need to be logged in which has some security implications): very anoying to be in a vi session and have a slew of iptables messages spew across the edit window! Is there a setting somewhere to stop this echoing?
