Subject: [expert] Mandrake PPC Powerbook
NIC problem
I finally got around to loading Mandrake PPC 8.0
on my powerbook. The model is a Powerbook G3 250Mhz Wallstreet w/ 13" display.
First I was having a problem with the video which I solved by setting kernel
arguments video=vesa vga=0x317 in the bootx program. Second I noticed eth0
never initialized, it detected it and installed the bmac module for it but I
cannot get the interface up at all. I have tried to use dhcp and a static
address, and I checked /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and
/etc/sysconfig/network and everything looks just like it should. Has anyone
seen this, or does anyone have any idea how I can correct the problem? I love
the way the OS performs on this machine, but it would be a shame not to be
able to use it on the network.
thanks
