well, to be on the safe side, why not make a tar file of your whole /home directory..
tar -cvvf home.tar home/ do that from your root (/) directory and it will create a file called home.tar that contains everything in your /home directory... copy that to your /mnt/windows fat partition if you have one...(I keep one mostly for that reason, it doesn't have to change, fat is always fat... it can't hurt to be safe... rgds Frank -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Paul Fuggle Sent: Wednesday, 3 October 2001 5:17 PM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: [expert] reiser partitions If I am running 7.2 and all my partitions are formatted as reiser, can I not format some of them (/home for example) during installation of 8.1 so that I can keep the existing files without having to back them up. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the reiser format has changed during the evolution of mandrake.
