nope, my idea of a test system is the spare one I keep at home for trying things that eventually end up on servers..
So I install 8.1 on it, then I remove all the crap from all the config files, put my own comments and stuff in them that make sense to me, and then connfig it to replace one of the old servers and do as much testing as I can like that.. if it all works, I copy all the config files to a floppy, and make them my defaults.. then each time I do a server, I use my config files to set it up, doing whatever changes are necessary for that particular box.... That way I can make almost sure that I can't screw up and have a broken server out there... nothing but hard work I am afraid... It would be nice if mandrake made an app that detected what servers were figured and running on a server and would export all the config files to a floppy, and you could take that floppy and use it with the CD to recreate the original server using another box... but just pipe dreams at the moment I think.... rgds Frank -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of David Guntner Sent: Tuesday, 2 October 2001 12:45 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [expert] LiveUpdate 7.2 ->8.1???? Is there a special program for doing this "test system" that you mention? Or are you just speaking in general terms? --Dave -- David Guntner GEnie: Just say NO! http://www.akaMail.com/pgpkey/davidg or key server for PGP Public key
