I had xtraceroute-0.8.14-20mdk installed with Mandrake 8.0 but it wouldn't
work. I then upgraded my glibc to 2.2.3 and xtraceroute to the cooker
version 0.8.14-21mdk (I didn't upgrade glibc just for this). It still
doesn't work.

What happens: I run "xtraceroute" from a konsole as superuser (same thing
happens if I run it as user) and for a brief moment I get a window appear for
a new trace but before it can become usable, it vanishes and I am left with
this message on my konsole:

Does anyone know what the problem is here? I am trying to run xtraceroute
for the first time so ~/.xt/ doesn't exist yet, so of course xtraceroute can
neither find nor read anything within this directory. Does anyone have any
idea or suggestions on how to get xtraceroute working?
