[expert] Printing is slow with CUPS

I've finally managed to get my systems printing through a shared CUPS 
printer, but it takes about 5 minutes for an e-mail message shorter than 
this one to print from Mozilla.  Also, stuff in the 'Options...' window 
of qtcups always resets to localhost, even though I have to put in the 
IP address of the print server for it to actually print.

What can I do to fix either of these problems?
