Dear friends:

I am an old hand at configuring RealPlayer and Mozilla, but I am stumped this
time. I have looked through the Mandrake archives and don't seem to be able
to find the pertinent information. Perhaps this is because this issue affects
only Mozilla 0.9.1, which is very new. I am using the Mandrake version of
Mozilla 0.9.1 and the latest rpm8 rpm:

[sher@localhost mozilla]$ ls
galeon/ mozilla-irc-0.9.1-2mdk.i586.rpm*
mozilla-0.9.1-2mdk.i586.rpm* mozilla-mail-0.9.1-2mdk.i586.rpm*
mozilla-devel-0.9.1-2mdk.i586.rpm* mozilla-xmlterm-0.9.1-2mdk.i586.rpm*
[sher@localhost mozilla]$

rp8_linux20_libc6_i386_cs1.rpm*

I have made sure that my RealPlayer 8 rpm is properly installed and that all
my plugins and mime types are properly entered, first in RealPlayer and then
in Mozilla 0.9.1. And I believe they are.

When I go to a RealPlayer LIVE or TAPED streaming site and click on the link,
it launches the "Downloading" dialogue box, in this case, with the name of
the 8.ram file: "Downloading cd4.ram" on the dialogue box window title bar.

I am then asked:

"What should Mozilla do with this file?"

Two options present themselves:

1) Use default action for this type of file:

"Open with application realplay"

2) Use a different action for this file

a) Save this file...

b) Open with application...

Since I had already set option 1 above as default ("Open with application
realplay") and had also entered it as a helper application in Mozilla,
Preferences, Navigator, Helper Applications (audio/x-pn-realaudio and
audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin), and since the plugin clearly shows up on
Mozilla's list of plugins (Help, About Plugins), I click on option 1. I have
done this on all previous versions of Mozilla, and this would always
immediately launch RealPlayer. However, this time, nothing happens. Even when
I reset the default, I still can't get RealPlayer8 to come up. Only when I
select option 2 and navigate through the file system to
/usr/X11R6/bin/realplay does RealPlayer come up and play the link (either
live or taped). So, clearly RealPlayer CAN play live or taped links perfectly
well.

But why can't I launch it directly by clicking on option 1, which has already
been configured and should launch RealPlayer 8?

Thank you all so much in advance.

Benjamin
