Depends.
If something happens pretty regularly that is logged, then the log
should stop being updated once the power goes off (one would hope ;-)
do 'ls -altr /var/log' and see when the dates jump.
Also, look through /var/log/messages (from the end) and see if
anything jumps out.
Finally, you might try
'last'
and see if that tells you what you want.
