I moved my 800 MHz Athlon slot-1 CPU and ASUS K7V m/b over to my 400 MHz
K6-3 400 MHz and Tyan Trinity S1598 m/b machine that I use for Windows
and Linux experimenting. Under windows after going though a bunch of
detection stuff and haggling with drivers I eventually got everything
going. Under Linux with a custom 2.2.17 kernel under 7.2 everything
came up like before except for eth0. Under 8.0 beta 3 it complained
that the module didn't load properly when it used to work. When I moved
the NIC to a different slot I got the same results. The NIC that I am
using is an Intel Ether Express Pro 100 PCI. There are no ISA slots on
the m/b. One other thing that I tried seeing that I had just burned a
copy of mdk 8.0 RC1 was to try to do a fresh install of that to see if a
fix was in there, but it also choked on the NIC during installation.

The current hardware configuration of the machine goes something as
follows:
1. CPU: 800 MHz Athlon slot-1
2. M/B: ASUS K7V w/ BIOS v 1.007
3. RAM: 256 MB PC133 ECC RAM w/ ECC enabled. (I had to reflash the BIOS
in order to get ECC to work right.)
4. Video: ASUS V3800 Ultra Deluxe.
5. Sound: SB128 PCI in slot 3.
6. NIC: Older EEPro100 PCI in slot 4.
7. Power Supply: 300W.

Any suggestions on how to get things going would be appreciated.
