Right, and the Athlon has quite a bit of level 1 cache (128K) along with
256K (or maybe 512K?) of level 2 cache, plus that runs at the full clock
speed of the CPU.

One can likely get the best of both worlds if one goes the Athlon route, at
least for now. I only have a single-procesor system, and I don't know how
well the dual socket A motherboards work.

Don't bother with a Pentium 4. Piece of crap.
