I did not measure the time, but it was definitely more than just 2 mins.
I will try however to wait even more. Just to be sure that the resolution is OK.

Therefore how can I change the X start-up resolution defined for Grub? I know
how
to do it for lilo (/etc/lilo.conf) but there is nothing like this config file
for Grub (or to be precise I am not aware about any in my ignorance).

I had Aurora and X starting at the boot time before Mandrake installation and it
used to work fine.

That the point. I cannot get console prompt unless I boot from the installation
CD in Rescue mode. What is more when I boot from a boot floppy (boot-up process
with out Aurora, I come out with the same problems.
Anyway thank for the suggestions. Anybody any other ideas? How to change X
start-up resolution for grub in the rescue mode? What are the file to be
changed?
