Hi list,

This has not been a good week for me and my Penguin. For some reason I've
been battling overlapping partitions for a few months. Off and on, but
still its been a battle. I had some troubles over the weekend that made it
necessary to reload the system. I spent the next two days trying to get
the system to install without errors. I had a terrible time getting that
to happen. Either one of the packages would error out, or when I'd try to
set the partitions I would get an error that said there wasn't anymore
space in the partition table.

On the two occasions that I was able to get partitions defined and the
system loaded it was clear that something wasn't right. So, I'd start the
reload over again. Being again unable to define the partitions and running
low on patience I finally resorted to... <gulp>... auto allocating the
partitions. The machine liked this and the install went on. I then told it
to use ReiserFS as opposed ext2 thinking maybe that would help alleviate
some of the partition troubles I'm having.

After install is finished...no such luck. Everything is running fine, but
I checked the partitions with diskdrake, which is how I found out they
were overlapping to begin with, and sure enough. AGAIN, I have partition
overlap. #%#%^@$#!@$!!!

So, I said all that to ask this. Is there a way that I can fix this
problem without destroying the filesystem, and having to reload yet
again?

thanks,

Mark
