If linux is telling you there's "no such command" something has definitely been lost. Even if you're in the worng directory when you try mak, make install, you'll get something like: "make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop." I don't exaclty know what rpm you need to re-install. The three that rpm responds with when I do "rpm -qa |grep make" are: automake-1.4-6 make-3.78.1-4 pmake-2.1.34-3 Try to find the the MDK equiv of these and do "rpm -Uvh rpmname" to see if that fixes the problem. --Greg ----- Original Message ----- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > well guess what i already knew that chris!!! but when i type make install it > says no such command. hmm what could that mean????? > i apologize for the sarcasim > > In a message dated 13-Sep-00 21:58:15 Central Daylight Time, > [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: > > << Normally, if you were to install source code you would follow these steps: > > As your normal user: > > - download the .tar.gz tarball > - Type tar zxvf foo.tar.gz to untar/zip it > - cd foo to change into the new directory > - Read the documentation, such as README, INSTALL, etc. > - Run the ./configure script (if necessary - the documentation will tell > you). > > Then, once everything is done, become root using su command and type > > make install > > Poof! > > -Chris > >> > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- > Keep in touch with http://mandrakeforum.com: > Subscribe the "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" mailing list. > ______________________________________________________________________________ Vous avez un site perso ? 2 millions de francs gagner sur i(france) !
