I have been looking for some way to install a Linux without a manitor
nor a graphics card. I am thinking on my old overclocked 486, but it will
also be aplicable to sparcs or x86 boxes bought without graphics or
monitor, or beowulfs.

I know that once installed, you can make newest versions of lilo to boot
on the serial port, but you need a screen for the first time. And if you
have any problem (forgot to add the console=serial in lilo.conf...), run
to look for a monitor. And booting on the serial line I could admin the
linux box from my mac...

Is there any way to get a serial-boot install image for Mandrake ?
I was thinking of two possibilities:
- syslinux (but the pain of building a initrd for every system...)
- mount the cdrom.img from mandrake in loop device, add the console=serial
in its lilo.conf and generate a new image.

Any help ?

perhaps this could be a new serial.img included in 7.2...

TIA
