I use VMWare at work to run WinNT under Mandrake 7.0 (solely to access
my e-mail on Outlook).

Have you tried to create a new configuration using the configuration wizard? It
will setup a "virtual machine" file, then once that is setup, you can select
which machine you wish to run in the lower half of the dialog box. After the 
configuration is loaded, click "Power On" to start the machine.
