Is the scanner terminated? If not, then get a SCSI
terminator to put on the other "port" on the scanner. In
case you didn't know it, you MUST "terminate" both ends of
a SCSI chain. The card will terminate that end
automagically, but you MUST put a terminator on the other
end, or stuff will misbehave, such as not being detected!
