You may need a special "loader" line for booting from other hard
drives. This stanza is from an old lilo.conf, of ancient vintage (the file
is dated 13 Oct 1996):


# DOS bootable partition config begins
other = /dev/hdb1
  label = dos
# use the d: drive loader.
  loader = /boot/any_d.b
  table = /dev/hdb
# DOS bootable partition config ends
