Yes. <eg>
Open mc (or whatever filemanager you use) and look into
/etc/rc.d/rc5.d (as I guess you boot straight into X). It's
/etc/rc.d/rc3.d if you stay on the konsole (tty).
The links with "S" at the beginning are the scripts you start at
bootup.
Now you go to /etc/rc.d/init.d There you have the scripts
matching the startup links.
At my box I have a thing like 'S10network' in rc5.d. Now I look
at /etc/rc.d/init.d/network and I read:
#!/bin/sh
#
# network Bring up/down networking
#
# chkconfig: 2345 10 90
# description: Activates/Deactivates all network interfaces
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
# configured to start at boot time.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
There you have your description.
There may be a nice GUI for what I described here. I don't know,
I never looked for one.
