I just finished installing Mandrake 7.0 and LILO won't
work. Here is the description of the environment:
there are two HDD: the first one already had Windows NT
working, so I added a second HDD for Linux exclusively. The second HDD is the
master device in the secondary IDE
When the Installation asked me about LILO and where to put
it, I consulted the HOWTO document on installation and found that they
recommend:
>Windows NT is present on my computer
>
>Make sure that you have an emergency Windows (system)
disk which is capable of restarting the system. You can create one from the
>configuration panel\"System utility".
>
>You should install LILO in the first sector of the
root partition of Linux.
So I specified hdc, for the bootloader.
When I restarted, I changed the BIOS so that it will boot
from the 2nd IDE first (otherwise NT won't find Linux), and after the initial
check up, it seems like LILO is going to start because the computer prints "LI"
and then it stops and starts beeping continuously.
I can boot from the floppy all right.
I wonder if I need to modify the lilo.config file and run
lilo again.
