Ummm, don't give up completely on graphics
CCLinux works, LM without the GUI works, but for minimal settings
the best I have found is a "download only" distro called Peanut
Linux
http://metalab.unc.edu/pub/linux/distributions/peanut/Peanut-Linux-7.3
last time I looked, but the version may have changed so drop back
one directory level if you get a 404
It has terrible security, but it is a KDE (no kidding) distro in
4 files for 51 Meg DL. It is so cooperative with other OSes, you
may have to install DOS to get it working. It does take upgrade
packages through midnight commander.
