Hi,
Netscape (v. 4.61 from MDK6.1 PowerPack) works fine here, BUT:
Each time when it shows 'Looking up host foo.bar.foo' my cpu usage goes
up to 100% and memory usage goes up about 2 or 3 MB per 5 seconds of
'Looking'.
The used memory stays used so after looking up 4 or 5 different websites
in a short session I have 10 to 15 MB more in the 'used+shared' meter of
xosview.
This also happens when I fetch my mail from the dialup mailserver.
While starting with about 70MB (used+shared+buffered+cache) after KDE,
Netscape and http is started I end up with using the swap partition
after 2 or 3 days uptime..
Short excerpt from 'top':
5:32pm up 3 days, 1:31, 1 user, load average: 0.01, 0.00, 0.00
52 processes: 51 sleeping, 1 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU states: 0.7% user, 1.3% system, 0.0% nice, 97.8% idle
Mem: 128148K av, 125016K used, 3132K free, 70400K shrd, 23020K buff
Swap: 128484K av, 4684K used, 123800K free 39072K cached

etc......
The increasing process during 'looking up...' is the ld-linux.so.
I have a normal dialup connection via ISDN and it is a standalone box,
no local network attached.
My /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.0.1 molch.earth2.com molch
193.158.139.134 onlinehome.de online
molch is only used local (I know the domain exists somewhere).
online is my ISP.
My /etc/host.conf
order hosts, bind
multi on
My /etc/resolv.conf
search onlinehome.de
nameserver 193.158.139.134
nameserver 194.25.2.129
Never had this problem with MDK 5.3 and Netscape 4.01. Anyone with a
solution? Or is it somewhere and I just overlooked it? So just point me
to the right URL please
