I am new to Mandrake but an "old hand" with Redhat and KDE so I hope I
qualify for the expert list :-).

I recently bought a system from IndyBox with Mandrake 6.0 preinstalled.
As soon as I had the network up I set up an account for my wife to use
and changed a few setting on her desktop for her. Everything is
working fine except for one frustrating behavior.

I removed most of the icons from the desktop on my wife's account and
added a few pointing to her favorite games and such. The problem is
that every time she logs in, all of the deleted icons are back!

When I delete the unwanted icons I can check the Desktop directory and
see that they are really deleted. I can check after logging out and the
kdelnk files are still deleted. When I log back in, they are back!
Judging from the timestamps on the kdelnk files, my best guess is
something is recreating the icons on each login but I cannot find a
script or process anywhere that is doing it.

Thinking it might have been something in the way linuxconf created
her account, I deleted the account and recreated it using the adduser
script. I logged in, made the changes to her desktop, verified the
files really were deleted, and logged out. When I logged back in, the
deleted icons were back again.

This doesn't happen to my account. We both log in as ordinary
users.

Any ideas?
