Hi all,
I have an excel sheet that I will be using to put in Id's of a study
in columns I have column A, B, C, D , E, F, G H, I , J ,K
I am enrolling patients in a case:control study of 1:3 ratio - the cases
are categorized into different types into column A, B, C to K
every time I enroll a case I want to enroll 3 controls for that particular
case
1) when I enroll another case of same category I should enroll other three
controls
2) If I enroll two subsequent different case categories the controls for
the first case should be assigned to the second case
3) If the third case is of different category I should enroll another set
of 3 controls

e.g If first case is case A then I enroll 3 controls, if tomorrow I enroll
another case and its in category A I should enroll another set of 3
controls, If third day I get case of category A still I enroll 3 new
controls cycle continues,However if one day I enroll a case and its in
category B i do not enroll a new set of controls I just populate its row
with ID's for controls in previous case A, If next day I get case B or C I
enroll new controls.

I need a formula that will highlight or prompt for new controls.
Any help will be much appreciated
