I'm not sure your situation falls into a "type" of case.
In YOUR case, Excel is interpreting your string "> 7 days"
as: GREATER than " 7 days"
or: GREATER THAN [space]7[space]"days"
In your samples, your cells contain "0-3 Days", "4-7 Days" or "> 7 Days".
In each case, "0", "4" and ">" are all "greater than a [space].
[sp] = char(32)
0 = char(48)
4 = char(52)
> = char(62)
So, it says that 100% of the records are Greater than [space].
The problem is with the first character (>).
in some cases, you may WANT to count values greater than a specific value.
=countif provides this capability.
However, in your case, you actually want to compare the exact string.
If you were to change your representations to:
0-3 Days
4-7 Days
7-# Days
then your results would be as you expect.
