Hi all I am using excel 14 (Part of Office Pro Plus 2010) on Win 7 Pro 32 bit. A fairly standard setup.
The help file says Public Variables declared using the *Public* statement are visible to all procedures in all modules in all applications unless *Option Private Module*is in effect. In that case, the variables are public only within the project in which they reside. I created 2 workbooks They are clean. i.e. I do not think there is secret code in them as they are newly created. I created a module in each file. The modules are as foillows In Test1.xlsb ----------------------------------------------------- Option Explicit Public Y As Integer Sub setY() Y = 18 End Sub Sub testY() Dim X X = Y Debug.Print X End Sub -------------------------------------- in Test2.xlsb Option Explicit Sub testY() Dim X X = Y Debug.Print X End Sub ------------------------------------------------------------------- If I run Sety() and TestY() in Test1 everything works as expected and it prints 18 in the immediate window. However testY in test 2.xlsb will not compile. It highlights the Y in X=Y and says "Variable not defined" What have I misunderstood from the help file, or is it just wrong?
