To retain the No# 1 spot, Microsoft has played a crucial strategic card. Allowing CLR to develop office applications will give opportunity to the developers to overcome the limitations of VBA to develop more secure and interactive applications. VSTO still in a beginning stage & it'll be interesting to see the chemistry between VBA & VSTO within a couple of years..
