Hi Tom, Just want to ask you before I answer to your query.. How would you differentiate between an Excel file and Text file if you don't save them with file extensions..??
Answer: Every operating system use file extensions to recognize different types of files, so you have to save your every Text file with the file extension which your operating system supports. If you want to hide the extension in folder view than you can turn on "Hide Extensions For Known Files" from 'View' tab in 'Folder Options' in Microsoft Windows.
