I am running a multivariate mixing model to estimate the relative contributions of the suspended sediment source areas to a particular sediment sink on the basis of measured geochemical properties of the sink and the potential sources. For each property, a linear equation is constructed that relates the mean concentration of the element in each source sample to that in the sink sample. The equations are solved by the least squares method and the proportion from the different source areas/groups is estimated by minimizing the sum of the squares of the residuals for the properties. I am using a Solver to execute the model. I have set all the needed formulas in the appropriate cells in Excel and have run the model successfully. However, I need to run it 5000 times to estimate the related uncertainties, while writing the output for each iteration and the respective Goodness of fit to a given cell range. Some people facing the same problem have used macros in Excel. I have no idea how to facilitate this with a macro. I would be grateful for any suggestions.
