Hi Ashish koul, I have seen many of your replies and it mostly contains Sumproduct formula. i checked this formula in Microsoft Help (MS Help) and it seems very easy thing. but what you use in your answer is very much different than what is given in the MS help. could u please explain why and what is this different.
i am giving both formulas. MS Help:- =SUMPRODUCT(A2:B4, C2:D4) in the above formula A col is multiplied with C col and B col is multiplied with D col and their products get added Your Formula:- =SUMPRODUCT(($G$4:$I$10=C4)*ROW($G$4:$I$10)) if i type =ROW($G$4:$I$10) i get 4 wherever i paste this formula. you always use this * sign whereas this is not given in the MS help. could you please explain your formula in plain English. please please please explain your logic i have spend lot of time on this but really couldn't get anything :( Thanks in advance. -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some important links for excel users: 1.
